You can see the basic settings on their site- it looks like the left and right triggers are used as toggles, turning the four action buttons into 12, and allowing you to use any icon on one of the action bars in WoW.
Why would you want to do this? Their press release cites gamers "hooked on the console experience," and so their controller will let you play WoW console style.
A company called Blue Orb Software has released an app called Switchblade, a free download that lets you use your PC-enabled Xbox 360 controller specifically to play World of Warcraft. Legit gonna use this for layin' back in my bed and playing on my TV.We've seen WoW played with a Wii controller before, but this looks like a really serious effort to get the Xbox 360 controller compatible with our favorite MMO. I approve this! FF can work with gamepad support so it's time for wow to improve accesibility too Comment by Nexsa on T17:48:03-05:00 I prefer WoW as a game, but playing that game on controller is surprisingly good and doesn't affect my performance at all. XIV has been doing controllers just fine for years. So far, it looks similar to ConsolePort I guess. You have to think using a Controller in WoW as playing a fighting game: some spells will require combos to circunvent the natural shortage of buttons. You edit them differently but it makes it easier to differentiate between the two sets of binds. I wouldn't want to have to overlap the bindings I already have for "Key 1 and "Key 2".įF14 specifically has separate bars for controller bindings. What happened to Action Cam? Is it still a thing? Could be nice to use that view with a controller.
Heck, I'll actually try playing WoW on my TV now through my Steam Link with a controller if the controller binds are baked into the game and I don't have to fiddle with add-ons. This is developed for players that do want it. As Blizzard has said there are people that play with add-ons emulating this behavior already. It is awesome that there is yet another way to play the MMO we all enjoy, or hate, to play. I wouldn't want to have to overlap the bindings I already have for "Key 1 and "Key 2". When this goes live, they really should add a 3rd row of key bindings or in any case at least have a controller specific section. I'm pissed that as one of the few people lucky enough to have alpha i don't have a controller to try this out on :( Comment by Danderfluff on T17:02:47-05:00 I even did Battlegrounds with the controller and had no issues interrupting secondary targets and going back on whoever I was whacking at the time. I played around with ConsolePort for a while back some time in Legion, and after a very short learning curve it became very natural to play with it. As a result, you can just keep the cursor around the center area of the screen when it's hidden, then hit the "show cursor" button and it'll be right there practically on top of whatever you want to click already.
If it works anything like the ConsolePort addon, you'll have the cursor pop up where ever it was when you hid it again. My main curiosity is if you can dual use one of these with your binds but also still have your mouse usable? For things like looting, interacting, and using further key binds (like being able to mount without it taking up a key bind on the controller). Pretty cool that its getting implemented. This was unexpected, but it may be fun to mess around with, who knows. If anything it should be way harder since you cannot press the keys you're used to press with any exisiting conditions and it limits your ability to keybind anywhere on the keyboard or mouse for your own availability. I don't see how playing with controller is easier with less fingers that kb+m. Seems like it would still take two hands and most fingers to play with a game pad.Ī MMO mouse that has 12 buttons on the side seems like a better solution for people with accessibility issues as that only requires two fingers and a thumb on the right hand and one finger on the left hand for movement. I can't remember the last time I've clicked a body for loot. Just have to be an engineer and bind Loot-a-Rang. This looks like it could be fun for leveling!
